Default Eleven Effect Plugin Bundle coming soon

Just saw this on the Avid blog article about PT12 at NAMM.

They are porting the guitar effects from the Eleven Rack into a plugin we can buy. Maybe they'll do the same for the Expansion Pack amps as well.

Here's the blurb about it:

"The new Eleven Effect Plug-In Bundle contains 17 hip and amazing sounding analog ‘stomp box’ modeled effects previously only available from the Eleven Rack. These include Distortion pedals, Chorus/Phaser pedals, EQ pedals, Reverb and Delay pedals as well as a Wah pedal. They will be available for all Pro Tools users as AAX Native, Audiosuite and DSP and are coming soon at an amazing price. Be sure to check these out —they are awesome and affordable."

I'm just happy to see any attention paid to the Eleven Rack by Avid these days, even if it's just regarding porting some of it to plugins. Maybe they haven't abandoned it after all.

It sounds like they are not paying attention to the Eleven Rack, but robbing from it. I'm not sure that is a good sign...

I'm assuming this is some marketing weenie looking at what Avid thinks it wants to do with Pro Tools Free and comparing it to things like Garage Band and going "oy we need some guitar effects pedals". My expectation there is most creative home users will keep using Garage Band etc. and will have pretty low-interest in learning the more complex/difficult to set up Pro Tools Free and certainly less interest in paying to use a "free" product or purchase add-on plugins that they can get free with Garage Band or other DAWs. Otherwise it's pretty much more stuff from Avid in these product updates that nobody asked for.

I'd not hold my breadth that the Eleven Rack is that loved at Avid, and have zero expectations for future upgrades. But even with that concern it's a great box to pick up.

Since they are doing this, I hope they follow it up by making the extra Expansion pack amps and cabs available as a plugin as well.

Be careful, that now falls into the category of what users are actually asking for, and therefore apparently very unlikely to get implemented...

Eleven Rack is dead to avid. Look at other comparable products and consider the FW updates and upgrades that occur.

There is so much more that could be done with this unit. But it has been left out to pasture.

This reminds me of an older brothers cool car that he leaves at his parents house as he moves on in life. The car sits untouched for a while. Until the younger family members start stripping out the car for parts to use on their cars.

After 7 or 8 years the son comes back and finds his childhood dream on blocks and weeds growing up though the engine compartment.

Scavengers. Parasites.

If you have GTR you can do the stomp box thing now and GTR has been around for years.

This is smoke and mirrors in the Hollywood sense for sure.

AVID is making my Pro Tools a glorified Face Time app.

LOL

Where do we do from here.

They don't take the amps? Only the effects?

Or am I misunderstanding?

So far Avid has explicitly talked about effect pedals plugins, not separate amp sim plugins and certainly not an update to the Eleven Plugin (where older pre-expansion pack Eleven Rack amp sims are available... and the Eleven plugin significantly pre-dated the Eleven Rack).
