ST318404LW drives hanging?

I'm experiencing a problem w/ the ST318404LW Cheetahs on the ATTO EPCI-DC UW. Granite cabling, active SE termination, everything, but the drives hangs during playback frequently. It's not an individual drive problem, and an older ST318203LW runs fine. But since the older drives are disappearing- why is this happening??? Also- noticed on a bench test that the 404LW's Random Read times are WAY slower than the 203LW's... Digi, what's the deal?
