Default New Windows Laptops

I have noticed that a lot of the Laptops on this forum that are recommended are outdated, and no longer in production. Does anyone have any experience with new windows based laptops (HP, Dell, Sony,...etc) that are working very well with Pro Tools LE 7.3/7.4 with Mbox 2. New updated info would be appreciated.

Possibly the reason you're not getting much of a response is because the last time I mentioned what kind of a laptop I was using, I took a lot of crap from several people about how it wasn't tested and how Digi wouldn't support it if anything went wrong. I purchased a Toshiba AMD Turion 64x2 with 2 gigs of ram, a 2 gig processor and 250gig hd. for $699 at Best Buy before X-mas. (It's $999. at Fry's today)Possibly the new systems and Vista is better than a lot of people give them credit for because the only thing I did as far as setting it up for performance was partition the HD. I have never had any problems with the processor, Vista, or plugs and can run 48 tracks with 70 D-Verbs before any warnings. I guess what I'm trying to say is with all the new products available that it must be a difficult task for Digi to keep up the testing yet alone guarantee support. Maybe it would be a good idea for users to post their testimonials for some of the newer products that are available at this time. It's been nearly a year but I don't believe you can even purchase a PT/Vista disk. You have to register the XP ver then get a authorization code to download the Vista ver. As for most of the plugs make sure you have the latest versions and 'even then' install them with XP compatibility. (Right click, choose the Compatibility tab, then select "Make XP Compatible")Buy your laptop from a store where you can get a 30 day return or exchange and test it like a "motherfather' Good Luck!

Thanks a lot, this is the kind of responses these threads really need, constructive responses with solutions. It seems everywhere I look on here there are conflicting ideals. I just wanted to know what worked and what worked well. I just may test your idea, thanks again.
