Default "Conflict" between PT and Garage Band?

Running PT 9.0.6 on Macbook Pro. Lion.

Garage Band gets hung up and won't open. Won't respond, and has to be closed via "Force Quit".

I've done some research and found this: Something in the PT application messes with Garage Band. Anybody have experience with this, or know a work-around?

One workaround is to not use Garage Band.

If you using an Avid or Digi interface, search this specific forum for 'MIDI drivers'. It may be your problem.

Wise-guy (and unhelpful...although possibly funny) responses aside...

Thanks, Chuck, for the excellent tip.

I searched, and found info on the DigiDioMidiDriver.
Deleted that, and now Garage Band is back.
I don't need that driver for my set-up, and if I do I can always download a new one.

I'm having the same issue but don't have that same filename. Anytime I need to run something that requires MIDI to function, I need to insert my iLok, launch Pro Tools, minimize it, and then run the software. If I try to launch any of the following, it will not run unless I follow the steps I just mentioned.

Examples - and I use all on a regular basis as a Music Teacher:

Sibelius 6, Garageband, and SmartMusic

Any help you or anyone else can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On my iMac that DigiDioMidiDriver plug-in has been moved automatically to a map called Incompatible Software.
That's clever & that's great, but why isn't Garageband starting up then?

Start Pro Tools before you start Garage Band then it will work.
