Mbox2 cutting in and out

Hello

I got the Mbox2 back in 2005 so this might be that the Mbox2 is failing but just wanted to make sure. Recently over the past few weeks my Mbox2 will cutout on both my monitors as well as the headphone output. I've tried a different USB cable (which connects the Mbox2 to my computer) thinking that was the problem but it still is cutting out. I've never had it cutout while using Pro Tools only other applications which is weird. I run my Mbox2 output for YouTube Final Cut and iTunes and just recently It's been cutting out. The only way to fix it is if I disconnect the USB cable from the Mbox2 and plug it back in. It will work for another 15 minutes that cut out again. I have to constantly disconnect the USB cable and reconnect for it to work. I am running Mountain Lion but don't see how this could cause it as I've had Mountain Lion for about 6 or 7 months.

When there's a cutout, do the LEDs on the MBox go off?
Are you using a USB-hub? Do you have several other bus powered stuff hooked up at the same time? Have you tried another USB port on your computer?

I have a USB hub. it's a7 port USB hub. Is that the problem?

The LED lights don't cut out

I am having the same problem. I'm using ProTools 10 with the latest updates on a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.3 When I close down ANY audio program and open another Audio Program the 2 lights on the MBox 2 input channels go out and I loose all audio. (The USB Light on the MBox 2 stays on) The only way to get it back is to reboot. I have the MBox selected in my System Preferences as my Audio Device for input and output. Any ideas?

It's happening on Pro Tools 10 as well? My lights never go out. I used to have an older USB hub and it never happened until I bought the 7 port USB Hub. It doesn't happen in Pro Tools as much as it happens when watching YouTube or listening using iTunes.

Do not connect the MBox to a hub.
