003 Factory PTLE Workstation vs 003 Factory Complete

Could someone explain the difference? I'm new to Digidesign and ProTools, so it may be something obvious, but I don't immediately see anything other than PT8 and PTLE software. There should be something more for a $1300 price difference. Also, these are basically control surface/interface combos, correct?

Does this mean PTLE doesn't come with software for compressors, limiters, reverb, noise reduction, etc? The virtual instruments, 128 tracks, and others would be useless for me, but some on-board effects and enhancers would be great.

003 Factory is an interface and control combo, right?

PT is a DAW which means it comes with whatever the PT software allots...

The hardware is extra & has nut'n to do with what u get with the software (DAW)...

All the protools systems come with a bunch of eq's, compressors, reverb, delay, effects, etc. Most of them are pretty useful. They all come with several good sounding virtual instruments as well.

The 003 complete comes with all this, plus the complete production toolkit, which has what you listed. This normally sells separately for $2000. You may or may not need some of those things. If you don't need surround capability, video synchronization features, 128 tracks (vs. the 48 that normally come with protools), and a few other features, then maybe it's not right for you.

Keep in mind a couple of other things: If you don't need a control surface, there is the 003 Rack Complete for much cheaper.

The other option is to buy the basic unit (not the complete version) and then buy the Music Production Toolkit for $395. This is more affordable and expands your tracks to 64 from 48, and gives you some nice extra plugins and VI's.

Yes the 003 is a control surface/audio interface. There is no difference between the two links you posted in reguards to the hardware. The difference in price is for the Complete Production Toolkit, which greatly expands PTLE. It's not just a collection of plugins, it also adds functionality to Protools itself.

Thanks for being concise and informative! I'm going to sell some things and save money for a 003 Factory and build/buy a solid desktop for the software, without the production toolkit. It doesn't seem like something I need, but can always pay for later as I progress. I really like the thought of having a hands-on console to work with, although the 003 interface is cheaper.
