LE 6.4 constantly crashing, please help!

I'm running:
Mac OS X 10.3.9, Pro Tools LE 6.4, Mbox, 1Gig Titanium laptop.
Problem:
Pro Tools crashes upon every startup. It worked fine for months, but all fell apart after I downloaded a security update from Apple.
Tried:
Re-install program - no improvement. Delete all preferences - no improvement.
Digidesign suggests I downgrade to OS 10.3.8. I haven't a clue how this can be done. And I don't see how this could help, as things were working great for months on 10.3.9.

I would so appreciate some help.

That'll learn ya' about installing stuff without a current backup.

Seriously I always backup my system drive before installing anything.

Obviously there's something in that SU that doesn't play nice with 6.4. I assume that you repaired permissions after the update.

If you don't have a recent backup of your system drive you'll likely need to do a complete reinstall. Don't forget that QT 7 is not good with Panther so stick with 6.5.2.

Yeah, I'd start with the Quicktime version check, if you installed QT7 via software update, that's probably the culprit, but using Apple's installer to revert to 6.5.2 hasn't always worked for folks here.
