Default Digi 001 A/D\'s - technical and subjective opinions sought

I am putting together a mobile system for location recording of small classical/baroque ensembles. This will consist of AKG and Neumann mics, Focusrite Red1 Mic Preamps, Digi001 and Carillon PC. So far I have only used the 001 at home for pop stuff, so I am seeking opinions of the 001 A/D convertors in a 'serious' recording context. Are they good enough or should I bypass them by using a dedicated (Apogee etc) 8ch. A/D feeding into the 001 via lightpipe?

Lots of aliasing.
If you wanna hear it, use the signal generator plug in, and do a sweep from 20hz-20khz, and in the upper registers, you'll hear what I'm talking about.

Ugh! That is a truly horrible sound. Are we sure that it is happening in the D/A rather than within the software? If so, are the A/D's any better than the D/A's?

I just heard of a group that A/B'd the new PTHD 192K A/D to the PTHD96, MixPlus 888, and an Apogee Trak 2 and the Trak 2 was picked by almost all of the engineers. I've heard it was their best product yet in the A/D department. I would look at the Lucid 24/96 and Cranesong HEDD 192 also. For the money they are hard to beat. I like my Cranesong for getting that tape saturation affect in the digital domain.
Just a thought.
