MC Mix versions

I'm thinking of getting a control surface and the avid / euphonix is looking good! Can any users give me a heads up on experiences working with mc mix? It would be good to know if version 1 (pre avid) works with pt9 and whether the latest software still works with those or even if it's possible to use v1 and v2 controllers together,.... Id like to buy a v1 mix now and add v2 or v1 expanders as I get more cash but unsure if there will be problems doing that ....hope someone can point me in the right direction!!
