Error -4 returned by dae?
Digi.....
I keep getting at random error code -4 was returned by the DAE driver while using Logic Audio with Protools Hardware. This error causes audio files playback to stop however midi continues to play. The error will hang around until you do a cold restart and then it might not appear until few days later. The error occurs both in OS 8.6 and 9.04. I suspect it might be caused by logic and dae. I'm trying to isolate the problem but I'm not succeeding , need your help Digi Thanks My setup is : apple 9600/200 with a G3/400 Sonnet card . 192 MB Ram D24 plus 3 mix farm cards 2 - 888/24 Adaptec Scsi Acc card 2 - 9gig IBM drives Running OS 9.04 Dae 5.0.1 Logic Audo 4.5.1 |

Re: Error -4 returned by dae?
Errors generated by DAE are 4 digits in nature. Single and double digit errors (positive and negative) are usually generated by the Mac OS and passed on by DAE.
A Mac OS -4 error: unimpErr Unimplemented core routine Not sure what this means, but here's what I would suggest: -Launch Logic Audio in Direct I/O mode (you will need the Direct I/O 5.0.1 extension when using DAE/DSI 5.0.1 which is available in the DAE/DSI downloads section of our website). -If the error is no longer posted, trash DAE prefs (entire folder) and DigiSetup from the System Folder>Preferences folder, reinstall DAE/DSI 5.0.1 and restart the computer. -Try DAE/DSI 5.0 and see if the error persists -Revert back to the stock CPU -Run diagnostics (Disk Warrior, Tech Tool, etc) on your drives and repair any damaged files and/or directories. -Run Virex (or any similar app) and repair any and all corrupted files -Run DigiTest on the cards. Re: Error -4 returned by dae?
DAE error 4 is a scsi related error. Usually caused by a faulty scsi cable, terminator or an improper connection (bent pin etc.)

Re: Error -4 returned by dae?
I recently have encountered this error...what I found was corrupt audio files.. It would stop at exactly the same place in a song. I was able to find which track had the corrupt file by turning on "Mute frees voice" and then mute each track one at a time until it would play past the point that it was stopping at.
Norton did not find trouble with these files.. also I was unable to do a finder copy of these corrupt files to another drive...so finally I used a data recovery util to recover these files to another disk, and it did, but the audio had clicks and gaps in it... So what HD Drivers are you guys using on your drives that create the DAE error -4? (I'm using system 8.6 and FWB 4.0) BTW, It was just Pro Tools 5.01 running...No Logic..
