MIDI notes only record half the time (Video Attached)

Attached is a link to a video showing the following:

That midi signal is coming through my midi device trigging audio.

I go to record and audio plays through but no midi.

I go to record a second time and this time midi records!

I go to record a third time and midi doesn't record.

I have no idea why this is happening.

When I click on your link and Google Drive page comes up I see the thumbnail of the video. Click the 'play' arrow and get this message "Couldn't preview file. There was a problem playing this video." There's a button to download the file but the file won't play on a Mac. Without video it's hard to understand your problem.

Does it happen with other instruments as well or just with Xpand?

I don't know why this would make a difference but I noticed that the two times it didn't record the midi, you first highlighted the section where you wanted to create a clip. I can't imagine why that would make a difference but it was the only thing I noticed common to the two times the midi notes weren't recorded. I'm not nearly as proficient with midi as with audio in pro tools, so hopefully someone else with more experience can offer some better advice. Is there possibly a feature/option where once a midi clip is created it can't be recorded over?

By the way the video played fine for me (in Safari on Big Sur)

Tried in both Safari and latest Firefox in High Sierra and it won't play on the site. I download it and nothing on my Mac will play it.
