look at this mix magazine story from 2003:
avid-acquires-rocket-networks-assets

why take 13 years to implement it ?

Well I don't know about you but I was still on 56kbits/sec in 2003, it would have been pretty useless for any sort of collaboration.

List Of Countries By Internet Connection Speeds

the US average is not much better even now, and is not even in the world top ten. the UK is dead last.

I haven't followed it closely, but I am aware of a couple of "connectivity" efforts from Avid since 2003.

Digidelivery, which I had professional experience with, worked pretty well all things considered.

Avid Pro Net, which I think targeted video users. I only know of that because I'm still wearing the NAB T Shirt.

I don't know if either were related to or used intellectual property from the Rocket Networks deal. But maybe it's already come and gone.

Somewhere I still have a (was it???) Digi-transfer rack mount unit. What a waste of metal that was!!!
