Skipping playback (stopping/starting during playback)

I've recently encountered a problem I haven't seen before using PT, and I'm not sure what's causing it. I've recently started mixing a project , exported from REAPER with tempo info (actually, the only thing I can think might be the issue), that starts and stops during playback. What will happen is it will play for a short time and then just stop at random, but the counters (time, measure, etc.) will continue like normal until it all corrects and starts playing again. The periods between these "skips", if you will, are random and varying in duration. The period of silence during these "skips" also varies in duration. Sometimes the project plays right through, multiple times in a row. But most of the time, these skips occur, and multiple times per play. To give you an idea, a composition of slightly over two minutes takes nearly 5 minutes to complete, due to these "skips". I've tried searching not only here, but elsewhere on the internet as well, but can't seem to find anything that's actually related. I'm sure my inability to define the issue with a concrete term may be part of my difficulties in finding a solution, so I apologize if this is obvious or a repeat question. I would appreciate any help, or suggestions as to why this may be happening or how to remedy the situation.

Right, I was under the impression when I entered it in making the acct, it would display as a sig. Turns out it's just under "about me"... Here's the relevant system information, anyway.

This sounds exactly like the issue I have had with my rig. (Pts 9/Win 7). I have posted it twice in the hope of finding a solution but none forthcoming. As you said it's random and unpredictable. For whatever reason, it has stopped occurring. I suspected it was a problem with the drive I was using for recording. I may have been right. it hasn't happened since I replaced the drive and the songs it would happen in were transferred to the new drive, {I'm still suspicious that it may reoccur at any time.)

Hi, I've updated my signature and posted the relevant system info. in this thread. I use a FastTrack Solo, with powered monitors via RCA for output.

I would be inclined to try this, except that (as of now, and the previous year that I've owned PT) THIS is the only project to give me this issue.

The first thing I tried was an update via Devices and Printers>FastTrack Solo> Properties>Change Settings>Driver>Update Drivers. The link you provided is non-functional.
