Printed click is off the grid???
when I print my click track, it is consistently off the grid. The very first beat in any session is dead on, but then all subsequent beats are off by the same amount.
I've tried this with ADC both on and off, and it is them same in both cases. Is there some setting I'm overlooking? I remember a click error/patch fix in an older version of PT, maybe there's a problem again in this version? I'm trying to print my click so I can include a bar of it at the beginning of some ftp sessions. But if it's off, that's of no use. PT 10.3.5 OS X 10.8.3 MBP 2.6 GHz i7 |

Re: Printed click is off the grid???
Nobody else has this problem? Or knows why I might be having it now? It doesn't seem like its off erratically (yet.) It stays consistently off by the same amount.
Yes, for the purposes of my project I can just cut and paste it to the grid, but I shouldn't have to and would still like to know why it is so. Last edited by right beside; 07-11-2013 at 11:04 PM. |

Re: Printed click is off the grid???
fwiw, I tried this on my rig. Consistently only about 60 samples late to the grid, including the first one. Tried at two different buffer sizes, and with and without ADC. Always the same results. Sorry I can't help.

Re: Printed click is off the grid???
Thanks for trying and posting your results. I just tried on my system again at different buffer settings and the amount of delay changed with the buffer. But it was always late. ADC on or off made no difference.
And it seems that the first click of a session being dead on was a fluke of the session in which I first saw this problem. In every other session I've tried since then, it's off like the rest of them. So, I'm guessing that it's the delay of the plugin's processing. I just thought PT would be able to compensate for that with ADC on and set to 'long'. It also gives more delay than a convolution reverb. It's the stock click plugin. What I mean is: if I throw a conv. reverb on a mix stem and then print that stem, and i also print the click, the click is off by a greater degree than the printed stem. |

Re: Printed click is off the grid???
Make sure that the option to Ignore Errors in the Playback Engine settings is unchecked.

Re: Printed click is off the grid???
Rail,
Thanks for chiming in. That fixed the latency issue. I tried it at different buffer settings and it was fine except for at 32. In that case, after initiating record with command + spacebar, my keyboard became unresponsive and only my control surface would work to stop recording and start/stop playback again. When I unchecked that box there was a warning about click and pops. Is that a concern? Meaning, am I only unchecking this box to print an accurate click, and then re-checking it, or is it something that's better left unchecked all the time? Thanks again. |

Re: Printed click is off the grid???
Leave it unchecked. The default is for this to be checked using some drivers... so (un)check it after updating Pro Tools.

Wow. This does make a difference. I guess it pays to RTFM
