Default SC48 in 64 channel mode (not enough layers) question

Hey guys,

I've recently updated our touring show where I do monitors from FOH. To do this I split the channels and have a monitor 'layer'. When we're on a profile it works out that layer A/B are my FOH channels and layer C is my monitor channels. To do this I put some blank strips on the B layer to make it all neat and tidy. We come in at something like 55-ish channels all-told.

We've got some dates coming up where I'm on an SC48 in 64 channel mode. The SC48 I'm pre-prepping on is version 3, so there's enough processing power, but because of my blank channels to make everything nice and neat, it pushes the end of my monitor layer off a bit, to 'layer E', if you will, due to the physical fader difference from Profile -> SC48.

Is there any way of accessing that layer on faders? I can delete the blank strips that are on layer C, thus making it half FOH/Half monitor, but I'd rather not if theres another way around it!

Cheers,

Jamie.

You could set the channels on that layer to a VCA and then by double presing the associated VCA enanble "VCA spill" to recall the particular faders you need, tha's assuming that you have only 16 active faders on the monitors.

Great suggestion Roland. If all VCAs are in use the channels can also be assigned to a Group and spilled in the same way.

The exception for group spill is if your'e running in 24 bus mode. Then group spill won't work.

Thanks for the help guys.

I might end up putting them all in a group and using a function key to spill the group. (if that's possible)

Thanks again!
