Problems with AVID EUCON Control w/Video

Hi. I have been moaning about strange behavior with my Dock//S1 and iPad control surfaces. EUCON does not properly assign softkeys or dock keys. What shows in EUCON control software does not map to behavior on the devices. This is really annoying.


Can anyone help? I created a youtube video documenting some (but not close to all) of the problems.

I am running the Latest version of Pro Tools Studio. I am also running the latest firmware and latest version of EUCON. I am on Windows 10, S1/Dock, and two tablets, iPad 8 for Main control and Samsung S6 on the S1.

I watched your video.

1. Completely uninstall EuControl and remove the preferences when uninstalling.

2. Re-install EuControl.

3. If the Appset still does not work, restore the Appset to default in the EuControl application.

4. You mention nothing about your network setup with any of your devices.

@Its2loud: Thanks. I have done all that you suggest several time, but it won't kill me to do again.

I have the main computer, and the tablets all connected wirelessly to my studio network. The S1 and Dock and computer are all connected via a D-Link router. They all "see" each other.

Restore to default appset.

If your tablets are on a different network than the surfaces, you may experience issues

The computer should be directly connected to the router via Ethernet and the Dock and S1 hardwired to the same router. The tablets can connect directly to the Wi-Fi of the D-Link

OK. Last night I reinstalled everything again. Rebooted and tried again. Same behavior:

This morning, I disconnected the S1, Dock, Samsung, router, and ethernet connections. Just basic iPad EUCON.

The wrong behavior is still the same. There is something wrong with the EUCON software. The softkeys do not work right. I did not even get into all of the problems I have with assigning hardware keys on the S1 or Dock.

In all of your videos you're not doing step 3 from my previous post.

Restore the appset from the Soft Keys tab in EuControl. With Pro Tools focused and Eucontrol prefs on screen, select the "Restore" button.

Also, Have you updated the Avid Control app on the ipad?

In the videos you are not uninstalling EUCON correctly. Run the EUCON installer and check remove all apps and remove all prefs. Dont use the old windows uninstaller.

This could be a bug we have found(and fixed for the next release) that causes the pages to get out of sync I.E. displays a page of softkeys but you are still on the previous page. Hence why the home key works on the bottom right sometimes. The bug is casued by swiping the pages left to right(you may be doing this without knowing as just a slight swipe causes it) Sometimes swiping again correct it.

I understand. This is why I have been making these videos to show you that I am doing everything that I can. I just made another one showing the detailed removal and reinstall of EUCON. Still same problem. It is rendering and uploading as I type.


I appreciate all of the help and I hope this show that this is not a User-Error. I know computers and software pretty well - probably an 8.9/10 on the tech savy scale.

Yes. Wiped the iPad and reinstalled the app. AND, I get the same behavior on the Samsung S6.
