This is the second post you've made to DUC where you provide no useful info, I've pointed you to useful directions in you previous post and yet... Here we have no idea what version of Pro Tools you are using no idea of any details of the computer you are using no idea what sound card(s)/interface(s)you are trying to use no idea what you have selected as the playback engine in Pro Tools no idea if you know how to use Pro Tools at all and no idea if you have configured ASIO4ALL to use the proper device Again, as pointed out to you before, if you want help here read "Help us Help You" up the top of each DUC web page, that should give some idea of the basic type of info expected. Including a SiSoft Sandra report for your PC. In general ASIO4ALL has all sorts of problems, it's a bandaid for not having a proper ASIO interface. If you are using Pro Tools on a Windows PC most of us here would recommend you just avoid all future pain and buy a proper ASIO interface, i.e. one with an ASIO driver provided by the vendor. If you have one of those already, uninstall ASIO4ALL. And make sure you do not have Windows or any audio programs using the interface you want to use for Pro Tools... only Pro Tools. The common beginner interface often recommended here is a Focusrite 2i2, but there are many other great choices from vendors including (in no particular order), Focusrite, Presonus, Universal Audio, MOTU, RME, and some others. |

Re: Issues with audio in playback.
The system in question is a current Windows laptop running Windows 10 or 11, and using the latest version of Pro tools (educational). I looked at this system earlier today. I had already re-installed Asio4All the last time I looked at this system to get it working, but re-installing it this time did not work. There is also the Realtk ASIO driver, but that won't initialize or start.
The system itself has perfectly good audio. I'm under the impression that Asio4All might be attached to something else, but I can't be certain. So a couple of questions. First, should I uninstall the Asio4All driver? Second, should I try and find the official Realtek ASIO driver and re-install it? And finally, is there a better driver that can be installed on the laptop?? |

Re: Issues with audio in playback.
What you need to do is clearly answer, not ask questions.
Nobody cares if the "system itself has perfectly good audio" we need to know what exact chipset(s) it has. You will be unlikely to actually have an ASIO compatible Chipset in a Dell? laptop, but if you think you might have that cough up the details (preferably as a Sandra report) once we have any clue what actual audio device you have then folks can tell you what driver to install. What do you want us to do without any actual hard information? Toss a coin? Running Windows 10 or 11? Stop this insanity and **Post a Sandra Report** When you run anything using ASIO4ALL you can look in the ASIO4ALL control panel and see what underlying device ASIO4ALL is mapping to ASIO. It's confusing because there is no stand alone Control Panel for ASIO4ALL (there used to be), it only appears when you use it. See the ASIO4ALL documentation. See how many device options ASIO4ALL is giving you for mapping... if this is a Dell Laptop (your profile says Dell) with no external audio interface there is likely only one device, and ASIO4ALL should pick that. Unfortunately that means the device will be shared with Windows and other apps which is not good. But you should also confirm Pro Tools is selecting that ASIO4ALL device as the Setup>Playback Engine, and that is the one you want it to use, and it's not picked something else. Actually look at that, don't assume it's stayed as any playback engine you set before. And if you can't reply on DUC because you are a new user, please don't create another account, just wait, the anti-spam block on new users will let you post after a while. Using multiple accounts/user names here is one thing that will get you kicked out. And again, best thing is go buy a proper ASIO audio interface--if you don't have one now.
