Pro-tools 3 nubus system

I am Having problems with Automation. I set a point and a fraction of a sec. before the point the volume will cut out or increase or
be early. I am getting eratic behavior. Do I need to reinstall protools in order to solve the problem? I have not done a reinstall since I loaded the system 2 years ago.. Is it normal for protools to be reinstalled on an annual basis? Any help would be appreciated. Les Thompson
