Default XP Tweaks... Not Always Necessary

Just to let some of you know, it is not always necessary to tweak XP. Some of the screen saver and power management adjustments can be helpful but some of the other tweaks posted are seeming to cause more harm than good on some systems. I say tweak as needed. My system runs great right out of the box. I have seen no difference in performance on my system with the tweaks applied, but I also realize every system is different. Finally somebody posts an xp thread worth agreeing with. This is one reason why xp works so great...because it isnt broke. The thing that bothers me is that many folks have already turned off acpi on their xp install, and unless they reinstall its left off. Sure it may be fine now, but later when you add more hardware who knows what may happen.

So, are there any tweeks that we should do? Or is XP out of the box OK?

I just installed XP yesterday, and maybe the listed tweaks I followed was unnecessary?

Should I do a new clean install instead?

I'm in agreement with the above, acpi on or off? I turned it of through device manager and strange things started to happen! Not sure if things are any better, sure I can understand about the basic little tweaks like no background/screensaver etc. But are all tweaks essential?
