Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
Some say it seems to work on HDN, some say it will not work on HDN. Maybe it somehow depends on the plugin? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
This is a serious bug/issue. C'mon @Avid, do assign the human resources the fix deserves. It's not acceptable to still have this problem after all these years, and less acceptable to turn it into a marketing policy to enforce sales of HDX. This is total nonsense.

They should've fixed this like 5 years ago. I don't mind paying a premium for Pro Tools (compared to other DAWs) as long as the experience is rock solid. But i mean this is just broken - not something to be expected from the "industry leading" DAW or whatever. It's ******** to be honest, I really hope they fix this soon. Either way, thanks for letting me know. Let's hope they fix it, at some point.. |

I've tested many other DAWs and ALL of the ones I tried support this without any hesitation. They're not even mentioning it because it's such a fundamental part of the DAW itself. It's crazy that we're even having this discussion about this flaw in the software - which Avid sees as an exclusive feature reserved for HDX systems. I mean, come on.. |

Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
I run HD native and I've spoken with support about this on several occasions.
While there are some situations where SC delay comp will work, even on vanilla, it is not supported on HD native..... .....which is freaking nuts! As you were. |

Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
.....which probably means some 3rd party native plugins are reporting wrong sample numbers for compensation. Just a guess though.

Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
a few month ago I did some tests with my mix template with multiple busses and a mixbus with mastering plugins and latency 5000+
- kick track without plugins - synth pad side chained from the kick ....side chain ok - kick track with RX plugins (just for testing, huge delay compensation) - synth pad side chained from the kick ....side chain NOT ok SOLUTION I simple duplicate the source track without plugins as a side chain source (Ultimate or not doesn't matter) PS: Same in Logic Pro x

Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
It’s not that simple though. If you have plugins on the channel receiving the side chain send, even just the one you want to side chain, there’s also delay that has to be compensated for. Typically if I have a track that I want to side chain, I have to commit/duplicate the side chain source track and insert a time adjuster plugin on that duplicate. Then manually enter the delay time shown on the receiving track. If you change a plugin on that track, make sure you change the delay time. Or... if you change the timing of the actual kick track, make sure you update the duplicate track for the side chain send. I sometimes end up with 5 duplicates of a kick track because of this. I’ve been learning other DAW’s due to the frustration this process causes. So far it seems ok in studio one, cubase, and reaper, but they all have other issues, and I typically receive pro tools sessions from clients.

Re: Side Chain Delay Compensation Issue Fixed?
No, this "trick" does NOT work when your ducked track is on an aux bus or if the ducked track has some plug ins before the sc comp.
But this is what you need to do in modern production. you want to duck a group of processed instruments. It only works if both the trigger and the side chained tracks have no plug ins before. |
