Hi !
About 2 years ago i redorded for first time the drum kit that is mine right now. And the kick sounds just amazing. And a few months ago i have the opportunity to buy it and guess i have it ! But i noticed that the kick doesnt sound like the first time ! So i changed the heads to the same ones that it had and the kick pedal and the beater head with no luck ! The sounds was a really tight sound with a lot of attack and definition . After few days of searching and experimenting i think i find it again . But it was wierd A LOT ! Or maybe just elemental to a drummer BUT ocult for a guitarrist like me jejeje . You know the kick pedal has a section that attach to the kick pedal border wood right ? Everytime i test the drums this was loose i mean the drum never gave tension to this screw to get it firmly to the wood BUT it comes to my attention and tighen it and WAO there is the sounds again like magic ! Is this sound logic ?? Can someone confirm this ?? Is the free vibration of the kick on the pedal just messing my kick sound ?? Thanks !!!

yes you are not crazy!... as a matter fact, drums are made of wood so they can even change pitch depending on weather conditions, I have a dw drum set and I have experienced the same thing I don’t hook up my pedal to the Bass drum's rim anymore because I don't want it to affect the sound of the bass drum and it can also damage or break the rim..That’s why they make virgin bass drums with no toms mounted, so the extra weight of toms won’t affect its pitch,,...
