It's a good thing for PT's future by developers not having to support multiple CPU's, old code and hardware. That opens up time to focus on current issues and more time for QA with a smaller test matrix.

Actually what caught my eye in that statement was...

Avid's policy is to announce the end of support for product(s) concurrent with the Pro Tools release just prior to the release where support for the product(s) will no longer be offered.

So is the next update right around the corner? :)

The end of PPC support... kinda surprised we've had support as long as we have.

Still haven't upgraded to v8 at this point. v7.4.2 has been stable, but I'd sure like to go down that new path.

Cheers...

Here me out here. Im a G5 owner with a DIGI 002Rack.

IF I were AVID, Id drop support for any NON-INTEL processor. All the old interfaces.

I would have support only for

1. Snow Leopard
2. Windows 7
3. The New I/O box I would be bringing out
4. Protools 9

That way I would ONLY have TWO OS's to contend with and a new hardware series that would be faster and could keep up with the NEW CODE.

I wouldn't complain too much about this. I'd like to see them keep the FW interfaces compatible if they could. But if they'd finally do a mid-level line between HD and LE I'd be all over it.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. Is Avid saying that my MBox2 is not going to work with ProTools LE 7.3 on my Mac 10.4.9 anymore?

Somebody PLEASE tell me I'm reading that wrong.
