Default Recording multiple tracks simultaneously

I have been recording live concerts using 2 condenser mics. Since i've switched to a Firewire HD my computer has not been causing errors as often, but, i want to expand so i can use more than 2 mics. I was planning on a getting a digital mixer or something so i could do 8 at once. However, i am worried that my computer won't be able to handle it.

i currently am running PowerMac G4, 1Ghz, single processor, OSX 10.2.6, 512 MB RAM, Digi001 running PTLE 6.0, Firewire 400 120 gig harddrive. Will another 512 mb ram fix my problem?

please let me know of any suggestions or tips that would allow me to run 8 tracks simultaneously with my current setup. thanks!!

Mark

You should have no problem and adding 512 RAM would be a good idea in OSX. I did the same thing with and old G4 350Mhz for a long time and it worked fine. I could add only a few plugs though so 1Ghz will be good.
