Default Brainworx bx_XL_V2

Anybody using bx_XL_V2? I've been running the demo and have been getting some great results. The mid-side tools are really interesting, pretty easy to get some huge sounding mixes.

I usually use either Fabfilter Pro-L or PSP Xenon but I am really liking what this thing brings.

Being on sale right now doesn't hurt either.

I have it. I use it from time to time. It's a good limiter when M/S processing is called for. The price is definitely right at the moment.

I use it all the time for mastering purposes. I'm not in love with the 'sound' of it's brick wall limiter. So I usually follow with Slate's FG-X for that purpose. I tend to use BX_Saturator within the mix itself when you're wanting things more 'present' & 'punchy'.

Hello Everybody,

Brainworx has a very special deal going on between Friday the 14th of november until midnight on Sunday night where you can pick up a great deal of up to 50% off on almost all their fine products.

It is only for three days, so if you were tempted to get a Brainworx plug-in or two, this is the weekend to do it.

For the listing of all the special take a look at the DontCrack Brainworx product page here.

Best Regards,

Nick

Too bad Vertigo VSC-2 wasn't included in this sale as we are about to get another license for it. Maybe we have to go with UA as they have just launched this awesome plugin It sounds out of this world on our artists vocals right now. Nothing compares to VSC-2 for her voice.

Honestly I just threw it on the vocals and started tweeking so wouldn't be able to tell you until I am at the studio, we go about things a bit different here Not one person here has any deep knowledge of dB/Eq/comp stuff. We just tweek until it sounds great to us and fortunately the artists and major labels agree as we keep getting jobs that pay good money

I know it sounds ignorant but we honestly stopped reading into the tech aspect of making music sound great a long time ago, takes too much time from creating and as long as it sounds sweet we don't look at meters and spectrums and whatnot, listening and printing is our motto I don't even know what soft mode is

Same with recoding levels, I see the meters go yellow and top of the green all the time but somehow we get it to sound awesome even though our levels are probably in the red on most recordings we ever made. I was at Timbalands studio a few yrs ago and they did the same thing, no one looked at the meters and dB and just made the songs sound hard and phat. I would love to learn the whole level and frequency stuff but as for now we make music the way we always done it.

Oh, well let me tell you about it then - it's the coolest thing about the VSC-2.

The ratio knob has a "Soft" setting, which adjusts the ratio dynamically based on the level of the incoming signal... It cranks up the ratio for louder stuff, turns down the ratio for the softer stuff. Simply put, it makes the compression come on in a softer way.

It's similar to how "variable mu" compressors work, and it can be pretty magical.

Thanks for that, I really do wanna learn and make the songs we sell sound even better and I really do appreciate you helping out. Even though I know I sound ignorant and cocky it's not my intention but when we have done this for soo long and made a great living off it It's hard to start changing BUT, the first thing I am gonna do tonight is check that soft mode out. I will report back and again Thanks for posting your help here
