Default Mackie Blackbird & PT9 - was going so well

Mackie Blackbird & PT9 worked fine in my studio for nearly a week.
Today I went to record a live concert and... almost a disaster.

PT9 would not recognize the Mackie even though it showed up in the Apple Audio/Midi Set program. In this program it was not listed as an option in the PT9 Aggregate driver side-panel. Somehow though massive amounts of shutdowns, new FW cables the Mackie appeared again as an option in the Aggregate driver side-panel of the Apple Audio/MIDI Setup program.

Home free, right? Not so fast. Now I'm getting random digital clicks making pretty much any classical recording useless.

Any ideas?

I'd given up on any M-Audio interface since PT always crashed - 610, 2626, ProFire Solo. None was reliable. Probably the M-Audio FW driver since all three devices...

This was an erase & install of OSX 10.6 with combo upgrade to 10.6.4. Then PT9. No non-Avid plug-ins. As plain vanilla as possible.

Last useable PT was my DIGI002 (died in the end) fed by Apogee Rosetta and AMEK 9098 preamps with Schoeps M/S mic. Very minimalist.

MacBook Pro 4gig RAM OSX 10.6.4
External HD 7200 RPM Oxford 911 yada yada yada
(haven't upgraded my profile below)

What ever happened with your Blackbird? Did you get it working or did you get another interface?

I was think about the Blackbird as a mobile solution to use with my MBP.
