How do i track multiple midi tracks simultaneously?

In the middle of a session and just realized, after 9 years on PT, I've never tracked multiple MIDI instruments simultaneously. How do I keep more than one MIDI/Instrument channel in record mode at the same time? As soon as I engage one, it disengages the other. THX!!!!
