The 192 IO Reference Guide has all the info you need. PDFs online.

Well, maybe I'm blind but none of the pdf files i've found so far include that information. Also, google search for 192 IO Reference Guide returns nothing.

Re: 192 IO main board 50 pin slots to ad/dc cards
Maybe I'm not being clear enough. I have the guide that states which cards must go in which bay. What I need to know is which slots on the main board go to which bay. When I dissassembledmy 192, I found it had the ribbon cable from slot 4 running to the digital card in bay 3. I bought the unit used and have yet to even power it up. It was full of dust so i broke it down to clean it. Just trying to make sure all is right before trying to test it.

Uh yes that's not what I thought you were asking. Not sure that info is anywhere.
Avid was pretty good about silkscreening PCBs... you sure there are no labels on the board? |

Re: 192 IO main board 50 pin slots to ad/dc cards
I remember the pcb board silk screening does label each slot as Slot1, Slot2, Slot3, and Slot4. I don't recall it saying anything else but I don't have the board in front of me at the moment but IIRC there aren't any other labels.
I am wondering if Avid/Digidesign considers it top secret information /not-very-intellectual property. I mean really, nobody can tell me? |

Avid is just absolutely awful about releasing any internal/hardware repair oriented documentation. It would take another user to disassemble their 192 to get you an answer, or maybe a technician or owner who has worked on one in the past and remembers what you are asking.... both likely not too common on DUC.

Re: 192 IO main board 50 pin slots to ad/dc cards
Okay, Since mine is out of the rack at the moment, I opened it up. Mine is the "standard" version with analog in, analog out, digital IO and a blank. The slots on the main board are numbered from the end as 2-1-4-3.
So on the rear, looking at the 4 slots: upper left is #1(analog input) Lower left is #2 (analog out) Upper center is #3 (Digital IO) Lower center is #4 (optional card) It occurred to me that maybe you only pulled the cards and didn't dig all the way down(which I did), so consider 2 things: 1-the cables might be laid out in a fashion that puts each end where it needs to be by default 2-remove the PSU board(6 screws) and remove the metal shield(another 4-5 screws) and that will reveal the 4 numbered slots(so you can trace each cable). While I had mine open, I took a Sharpie and labelled mine(would have been nice if they did that at the factory.....). Hope you get it sorted

Re: 192 IO main board 50 pin slots to ad/dc cards
I aint been around due to trouble with both hands.
It turns out i either just lucked out and plugged everything back in to the main pcb correctly, or it just didnt matter. (I will post how i have them connected when i can tear it down again...btw i had everthing apart except for the front panel. I wouldnt have been able to see the pcb with the slot number labels without removing pwr supply) |
