Default Copyright Symbol

A small, non-vital issue, but one I'm curious about. Not a big deal, but since I'm bored today I thought I would bring up the question. Don't know if this is strictly Windows related or whether Macs have the same behavior.

In most other apps I use, if I want to include the copyright symbol ©, I simply use the keyboard combination <alt>0169 to create the ASCII character. (It worked here composing this thread).

But within Pro Tools itself this does not work. If I want to include the symbol in an mp3 bounce dialog, or maybe want to use it in a track name, I have to create the symbol in another app (e.g. Microsoft Word) and then copy and paste the symbol. PT doesn't seem to have a problem using the symbol, just creating it.

Thoughts?

On a Mac it's © (option-G) and it does work in mp3 bounce in PT.

I just type the word Copyright 202x somewhere in the bounce dialogue window.

On a Mac, fn e (function key and the letter e) brings up the Character Viewer which has thousands of special characters, emojis, pictographs, arrows, etc.

For example:

© ™ ☀︎ ♛ ℉ ℃ Ë Ⱥ ∂ ∏ ⟪ ⟫

In Windows 10 and I'm assuming Windows 11, there's a System Tray keyboard option that has the copyright symbol on a long hold on the "c", which should give you what you want.

Well how about that! The System Tray Keyboard (Touch Keyboard Option). I learned something new today. Thanks!

While still not quite as convenient my old way of doing it, it's definitely better than firing up Word every time I need the symbol. And I don't have to memorize the ASCII character table...

Happy to help. There's always some hidden features that should be more prominent or already activated.
