What happens after the "spinning rainbow ball"? does protools crash ?
I sometimes the the spinning ball (but not the crash). You could select your drive/directory and update index. Maybe that will help |

yeah it just sits there with the ball spinning and I have to force quit. I tried throwing out the database for that drive and then updating the database through the workspace which seemed to work (though still slow and clunky). But the next day when I boot up and try and do a search it crashes again. Are there any suggestions for making the workspace smoother it seems very clunky and slow considering I'm using a brand new computer and fw800 which should be hella fast.

Hi,
I remember that i had to wait a long time the first two or three times i used search in the workspace. Had to wait 10 minutes or something like that. Really long. After that everything runs really smooth. Dont know if protools updates a lot the first couple of times or not. |

hehe 10 mins just enough time to throw the thing out the window!!! I've used the workspace on HD systems using scsi drives with no problems at all must be another LE limitation I guess....

You should move all databases for all drives as well as the master database to a folder on your desktop, restart and relaunch Pro Tools.
Let us know if this helps - if so, we may want to get your corrupted databases. |
