Okay. I've calibrated my display on the built-in 15" MacBook Pro running Big Sur. I reverted to the dark mode in Protools. I'm going to give it a try for a while, hoping I will get used to it given that some of you said that once you get used to it, you dig it. Honestly, I don't like it initially. I will note that the top of fields of the mix window are misaligned vertically and therefore I am not able to read the text. I think someone mentioned this previously on the other long thread with PT 2021.3.0 so I am aware of that issue. I'm keeping an open mind.

Edit: I'm just using the default Avid colors for now (not the improved color settings via the text file)

Are you looking here -- On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Color. Click Calibrate.

I am able to calibrate my monitor in Big Sur. (Not just white point). I get a 5 step process with a vertical slider on the left and a cross-point slider on the right for each step.

I see, as I noted I only tried in Catalina and was able to get it acceptable and working to my satisfaction with the modified dark mode, with the profiles and the white mode .... YMMV

Perhaps it was obvious to others, but it just occurred to me. The dark mode mimics the look of the S1, S3 and S6 series control surfaces whereas the classic mode is reminiscent of the Icon and C|24 consoles. Similarly, the MTRX and Carbon rack mount interfaces adopt this "black" color scheme as opposed to the previous generation of "silver" HD rack interfaces. Now I get where Avid is going with the dark mode theme. I still can not say that I like the dark mode yet (still trying to get used to it), but I can see the future is headed in this direction for Avid—both hardware and software.

Each person is different and has different preferences, so let's not diminish another's opinion. Let's just be glad that, for now, we have the option to choose which color scheme we prefer. Now for the traveling engineers, please be respectful of others, in that if you change someone else's color mode during your visit, remember to change it back before leaving.

Peace

As long as a visiting engineer doesn't edit the dark mode file
