Hi, Newbie here

Re: how do i set up my external HD?
there is no real reducing strain on the computer afaik
its just pro tools likes to work with it installed on system drive and using another drive for tracking/mixing off.. in a pc you simply dump your project folders into it.. run as normal.. same for recording... save project in said ext hdd... you're done pro tools handles the rest.. as long as the audio files folder for the project is within the folder which resides in the hdd you're good to go... i dont know if there is anything else to be done on a mac but its pretty straight forward... afaik there are no additional settings to be selected in pro tools... i run an ssd for tracking/mixing projects... saved projects reside in this hdd... done..
