Re: Greatest Producer Ever??
Wow! No names of anyone here on the DUC!
Come on guys & gals, blow your own trumpets.... I'm sure there are some users here who would be considered the best producer ever if they were actually known to the general public. I strive to be the best producer in the world for my own music. It's not to say I am, but that's a good place to start..... Oh and Shoot me down if you want to, opinions are opinions and all, but Dre is not the best producer ever unless the job of a producer is to make everyone sound exactly the same. Just a musical Xerox machine in my opinion. I heard an old Kraftwerk track the other week which I hadn't heard for years. I can't remember the track now, but I reckon that's where Dre got his "sound" from. Regards.

Re: Greatest Producer Ever??
Why has no one yet mentioned Tchad Blake? For example,
1. Pearl Jam's "Ten" (GREAT friggin album) 2. Soul Coughing (arguably the BEST ACOUSTIC DRUM SOUND since "When the Levee Breaks") 3. Los Lobos (if you're into that stuff)

Re: Greatest Producer Ever??
There is no one "best" producer. There's only a myriad of excellence to cover many genres and artists over the past few decades. How can there be a "best" producer for everyone! How about "which producers do you admire?".
Neil Davidge (Massive Attack - Mezzanine) Mark "Spike" Stent (Bjork - Vespertine) Jon Brion (everything he does is brilliant) Andy Wallace (Nirvana - Nevermind) Nigel Godrich (Radiohead - Ok Computer) Quincy Jones (see Jon Brion mention) Many, many more.....all subjective to personal taste.
