Default Re: Does PT not support closed "closed clamshell"?

Yesterday I tried chaining a small G Drive from the MBP FW800 - drive, out of the drive 800 to 400 cable to the 003, (not using the MBP 400 port at all).

I looped a section of the same session, and it was fine for about 5 minutes, and then the session froze, went into an endless beach ball, and .....done.

No hardware or DAE errors, just the beach ball. Not sure where to go next?

Doesn't the mac get really hot running a PT session with the lid closed? Mine gets pretty hot with it open so I can't imagine it being healthy closed.

It does get hot for sure, but people seem to be able to run sessions this way.
Not sure what my problem is....

I have a 2008 MacBook Pro with Nvidia 8600M GT graphics card. (

I use the boot method explained by DigiTechSupport earlier in this thread.
I set it running in clamshell mode and then open the lid.

The screen stays completely off (not just on low screen brightness).
Snow Leopard's Spaces only displays the external monitor.
It stays just as cool as using the MacBook Pro normally with the display on - probably cooler because the graphics card does not have to drive two displays.

How are you connecting the interface and drives as far as daisy chaining, etc?
What kind of track counts? Do you have the same MBP as mine, with 400 and 800 Firewire?

I don't suppose it makes a difference which FW port of the 003 you plug into?

"Audio device buffer underflowed. Decrease H/W buffer size or remove other devices from the audio Firewire bus"
Such as ????? I have nothing to remove. Only have one drive.

It's getting old already!!!
