Re: Going back to 2021.3... see other posts
I’m not having any GUI issues here (10.15.7). And I have similar specs to you Rinky. Maybe it’s a Big Sur issue? I saw a bunch of Big Sur users mentioning GUI issues.

Re: Going back to 2021.3... see other posts
Yeah. I'm noticing that too. Obviously people using M1 based Mac are running Big Sur but most of the others reporting GUI issues (glitches, screen tears, beachballs, laggy meters, slow response to mouse input, etc.) are running Big Sur. Maybe that is something avid can look into.
I'm not a coder, but perhaps Avid's coding for Big Sur is written differently to handle graphics in a new way in preparation for supporting the M1's system on a chip design where the GPU is on the same chip as the CPU. This rewriting may adversely affect existing discrete GPUs in the Intel based Macs too. Hopefully they get this sorted quickly as we are seeing many users revert back to previous version of Protools. To test this theory, if there are non Big Sur users experiencing these symptoms with Protools 2021.6, please post your system specs in this thread.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was Rosetta 2 causing the issues. Which means it'll likely take quite some time before all of the issues are worked out, as the only real solution would be for native Apple Silicon support. Which I suspect will take quite some time.

I rolled back to 2021.3.1, frequent beach ball, impossible to work fluently.

Re: Going back to 2021.3... see other posts
But people using Intel Macs don't go through Rosetta2. Yet many are still experiencing these GUI issues. So far, the common denominator seems to be Big Sur and Protools 2021.6.

Ok, so we have an exception to the theory. Are there more? What type of Mac are you on? I think I'm hearing more issue for people with 27" iMacs (just a suspicion or hunch). Let's hear more responses.
