DV out firewire not working

I have three PT systems. G5, 10.4, v6.9 PT, video plays out firewire to a Canopus box no problem. I have two other systems, G4 Dual 1.25, 10.4.9, v7.1 PT and G4 Dual 1.25, 10.4.9 v7.3 PT. ON both of the v7 PT systems the Play video out Firewire option is greyed out. I have tried both Canopus 100 and 110 boxes. I have tried all variations of plugging in the box before start up, after start up, before and after PT launch and I can't get the function to work. Am I missing something with V7 pro tools and this function? Anybody using Canopus and 10.4.9?

10.4.9 is not supported yet by Digidesign. So i'd suggest going back to 10.4.8 and retry.
My Canopus works just fine with it(MacPro Intel, HD2 and 10.4.8).

Does this video file open and play through firewire on the other systems you have?

Could be a codec issue if not. Canopus from our experience is very fussy about the codec's used with it.

Just asking: Is it a DV you are trying to output to the Canopus?

FYI 10.4.9 was qualified last week

FYI, we are using 10.4.9 and a Canopus 100 and 110 on G5. Working fine here.

make sure you have the right QT version installed. you may need to re-install QT.

Just asking: Is it a DV you are trying to output to the Canopus?

To be more specific, the Canopus box only support the DV format. The file have to be a DV stream or a .mov with DV inside. The DV stream has a .dv extension, for the .mov you have to open it in QuickTime player and do a command-i to see witch codec is being used. If it's not a DV codec, then you have to export as a DV file from quicktime.

If you would like an easier way to convert your video try the free RooVid lite and import this setting file

After that it's just drag and drop of the movie.
