cursor hangs in LE playback Intel MacBook Pro

Today my cursor is acting weird during playback: Even though the audio is playing fine, the cursor sometimes stops, the transport clock stops and then a few seconds later the cursor catches up and all is fine. I am running LE 7.1.1 via 002 Rack on my Intel MacBook Pro 2.16ghz, 2G memory running OSX 10.4.7 The PT hardware buffer size is set to 512. Will this sort of cursor hanging be a problem for me when I am recording? I have a big session this wknd and I don't want problems.
