Default random question about punch ins

so i used to always be able to just click on the track and punch in right where i clecked, but for some reason it jsut stopped doing this. now it always starts at the beginning of the track, so i have to fast forward to the part i want to get to or i have to manually enter numbers to record a section of audio(before i could jsut highlite), what the hell happened?
