iPad battery drain with wifi and Avid Control
I'm enjoying my new, second-hand Artist Mix very much, and I thought I'd check if Control on iPad would do anything for me. I installed the latest version, enabled wifi on ipad, and it seems to work correctly. The problem is; the battery drains super-fast. I charged it to 100% and left it, screen asleep, wifi on and Control active. Less than 24 hrs later, the charge is 40%! Without me touching it. Normally I can leave it, wifi off, no Control installed, and it would take a week to drain it that much.
I've searched, but had no luck. Any ideas? I guess my only solution for now is to enable/disable wifi when I use/don't use Control.

I just confirmed this; I charged the ipad to 100% yesterday, turned wifi off and left it. Today the charge still reads 100%. Like it should. I've just deleted Control on the ipad and turned wifi on, so we'll see how that goes.

Re: iPad battery drain with wifi and Avid Control
iPad Settings->General->Background App Refresh. Turn off apps you dont want refreshing on WiFi in the background.

I did read about this before. Some saying it was the solution, others saying it did not help. I disabled the whole 'Background App Refresh' thing, not disabling specific apps. I'll now leave wifi on, Control is still not installed, and I'll see it goes. It's 10pm local time, and my battery charge is at 81%.

It's been three hours idle, and my iPad is now at 72%. Obviously something is active thru wifi and draining power, and 'Background App Refresh' is not the problem.

Re: iPad battery drain with wifi and Avid Control
From a usability stand point, the only real way to use Avid Control is with the device plugged into a charger. Which shouldn't be a big issue (The S1 and Dock both have USB charging ports specifically for that.) Temporarily using it on battery only is fine but hoping there's a long-term solution for that, not really.
As for Ben's other problem (unrelated to the Avid Control app), have you rebooted your device (hard reboot.) That should kill any lingering items. Otherwise, for wifi, try to switch to connect to the lower bandwidth networks (2.4 Ghz instead of 5 Ghz), turn off bluetooth if it is on, and check the status of your battery (general>settings>battery) and see if it is degraded.

Re: iPad battery drain with wifi and Avid Control
I've hard restarted the iPad. Battery's at 66%. We'll see if it makes a difference.
To be clear; I don't use it much. Only occationally using wifi. Maybe this is normal, that icloud, mail, and everything is burning fuel, that I haven't been used to with wifi off.

The only thing I did was the hard restart. Looks like success. Thank you Bscout! Now I'll re-install Control.
