Updated to 12.8 - Missing Codec?

Just to report... 12.7.1 has been installed thanks to a forum member having a .dmg that mounts unlike the one you would download from your account. Works just fine. Video is back to working normal. Its definitely something up with 12.8... Also, I don't understand Avid Customer Support. I mean this in a constructive way. I understand the subscription support service, but to release an update and have someone come and tell them, theres something wrong with my system because of the new update, to which their reply is, I need $40 before i can tell you.... doesn't seem very right... perhaps a grace period for all users after an update seem logical to me...but... its been a long day... so perhaps I'm in the minority.

Just glad its back to working until 12.8.1 gets released.

Same problem here with the 12.8.
I re-installed AVID codecs but it didn't change anything.

I tried PT HD 12.8 in one of the Sound Edit room of my studios.
Big Grey Mac Pro running Mavericks, video is not working.

I tried PT HD 12.8 on a laptop under sierra, everything's running fine...

Then went on the Avid Knowledge Base of the 12.8 release (http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...8-Release-Info), and just found this :

"Pro Tools 12.8 Release Information
June 26th, 2017

System Requirements and Compatibility with Pro Tools 12.8 Software

Mac 10.12.5 (Sierra), 10.11.6 (El Capitan), 10.10.5 (Yosemite)"

Seems Mavericks is not supported anymore.... :-/

I'm putting back the 12.7.1 for the moment.
Guess it's the time to create a new ghost under el capitan or sierra !...

computers that only have 8Gb of Memory could be an issue with PT12.8 .. i just noticed this at the bottom of last posting ..

I had this same issue with 12.8 on my Windows 8 install. Videos were DNxHD, still no go after re-installing codecs. Uninstalling and re-installing 12.8 fixed the problem. Video performance is still a little wonky, though, as it has been for quite some time. Lots of good bug fixes in this release. Video doesn't appear to be included.

Maybe they will give me money back for subscribing to something they gave no warning about dropping support for. They just took the money and ran.. at least that's how I feel.
