In reading the update info I just learned that the esx24 is able to access more than 4 gb of memory even in 32 bit mode. It's just the third party vi's that will benefit.

Yeah, the EXS sampler has been able to access its own RAM since version 8. How much I don't recall- I don't seem to recall a limit. Moot now, whatever it is.

But at least now, it's not restricted to just the EXS24.... ie when you have big projects with thousands of regions and lot's of fades, edits, flexs etc.... the app wont bloat.

sounds pretty sweet.. so the one question i had before i pulled the trigger on this one as i've made some mistakes in the past with upgrades and wait a lot now. do the audio core driver for the latest protools le work with logic 9 still? i know it's an hd thread and i'm hybrid at the moment but i just don't want to shoot myself in the foot and have to downgrade and loose stuff like last time.

What are you going to use as the interface? I've heard negative things about using an HD rig as one with Logic- it seems as if between Apple and Digi that this won't be a viable solution for much longer.

But I don't know. I don't own HD. All I'm saying is be sure before you buy.

Since I don't know what you have planned, I'll give you this:

Good luck, whatever you decide.

You mean the Institute of Bathroom Recording?

Their mission statement is "crap in, crap out."

I love pro tools to bits... but i wish they would optimize the whole damn thing, When logic works more efficiently than the industry leader thats a worry, and not just the 64bit it did before.

But hey, digi has always been a while behind the ball. Understandable but hey.
