Default Unique ID

Is there a program that exists where you can open up a audio file and change it's unique ID?

I have a metal session that I am mixing and I replaced all the bass drums (using tab to transient and paste), and suddenly the file I used as a sample is missing. so I have the file in other sessions but it won't let me relink it because the ID is different. So I need something to let me change that. (rather than tab-pasting 8 million bass drums AGAIN)

any Ideas?

Yes, manually relink and at the top of the relink page there's a button to choose how to relink.

Ok, i figured out what you were getting at there but something fishy is going on here. Here is a link to a picture of what I am dealing with. Sorry grab decided to store it as a pdf ...

http://www.eastcoastbands.com/audio/wtf/Picture%201.pdf

so here's what i am trying to do.

Audio 4_01.aif apparently exists. It is a bass drum sample. Protools obviously sees it, but for some reason will not link to it.

- the correct file is the one already in the "Select files to relink" section. I don't want to relink it, I just want PT to use that one.

What gives? Feel free to ask more questions...

What file does Pro Tools use instead of that drum sample?
What's in your track? An offline file or a wrong file?

If your problem can't be solved in the relink window, maybe the Replace Region Command can be a good workaround:
Command-Shift-drag your bass drum sample from the region bin onto the wrong/offline region in your track and chose "replace all instances of the original region".
Good luck!

Maybe additional information on what is on your track can help, too.

What is the sample rate and bit depth of that file and the session? Do they match?

BTW this is a prime example of why one should name their tracks before recording.

BRAVO rail. that was it. The original sample was 24/96 and his is a session i have been working on for more than a year. (my solo album) so i forgot it was back in the old 24/48 days. I swapped out the audio file for one that I converted to 24/48 and blam blam, it showed up in the find all candidates and i was able to relink it. Kudos brodda. I had already decided i was done with te record, it's mastering next wednesday.

-- As for the drag from bin trick, It was close but It would only replace single instances because all the regions are labeled differently. But thanks nice man trick for the future....

Rail, once again proves himself a bad ass. Dude i know my dog can smell it when something's wrong, but how the heck did you figure that out? I mean you called it.
