Suspend auto doesn't fix it. The ONLY reliable way to get around it is a restart except sometimes thin all across certain areas of the session and documented years ago in this thread.

I have tried this and other things countless times. Should all be documented in my support case

Case : 03774787

Hello everyone,

I never had this problem before installing 2024.10.
I'm working on a short film but with a lot of tracks. The automation is not particularly dense compared to other projects.

I'm going to reinstall 2024.3 and hope for the best...

When the Error -20021 appear and I suspend all automation in automation window, playback is restored. I can work then, but as soon as I enable all automation, error is back. PT restart is only solution that I could find. Preferences delete with PT Prefs 2 doesn't help.

Another observation. Whenever you have an active input going AUX or rec track set to input from either AUX I/O or a physical input or virtual in (like DVS) try turning that off. I get increased 20021 errors whenever I have to have a track in input mode coming from something that is not an internal bus.

This is obviously not always possible but it helps to turn off any physical ins into your session to at least minimize 20021 errors.

But since AVID said that they have this issue fixed in 2025.6 I hope the days are numbered. Another month of 20021 is just about as much as I can take after 7 years of this issue.

Think you might be onto something here, Frank.

Just had this error for the first time (2024.10.2) and had one of those AUX I/O virtual ins open...

Frank....

I thought you were on 2025.6??? your specs indicate 2025.6 but if you arent on that, I need to know what you are on?

I just created a case and referenced all the cases you had with the -20021 error and your recent hint.

I was on 24.10.2 when I posted that back in April (as 25.6 was not yet released) and co-workers said they also got way less errors by de-activating any aux i/o inputs back then (obviously this is not always possible). So far I have not had the error since going to 25.6 but I haven't done extensive work with it. That said the 22005 and 22006 errors are still happening (release notes said they were fixed in 25.6 and 24.10.2) but those can be worked around by de-activating/re-activating the video track so don't require a full system relaunch. They are less disruptive.
