Using a fairly large Netflix 5.1 series I've mixed.

1:25min of dialogue. Lots of clips and fades with PT iZotope RX Dialogue Isolate (V9 new algorithm & "Best")
5,1 Mac Pro 12 Core - 5:07min
7,1 Mac Pro 16 Core - 2:41min
Mac Studio 10 Core - 2:39min

1:25min of dialogue. Lots of clips and fades with PT iZotope RX De-Crackle (high Quality)
5,1 Mac Pro 12 Core - 1:20min
7,1 Mac Pro 16 Core - 59sec
Mac Studio 10 Core - 43sec

Offline Bounce - Full mix 5.1, Mix Minus VO 5.1, Full mix 2.0, Mix Minus VO 2.0
5,1 Mac Pro 12 Core - 4:56min (x2)
7,1 Mac Pro 16 Core - 3:03min (x3)
Mac Studio 10 Core - 1:36min (x6.2)

So as you can see the Mac studio running the newest version of PT under rosetta is twice as fast as my old machine for iZotope but about 3 times as fast at rendering. Happy days. It's slightly faster than the 7,1 cMP at RX but about twice as fast at rendering.

I can't wait for PT to go native on Apple Silicone!

Intersting.. My world for sure-:). Thanks for the tests.

Yep. You would never set a buffer of 32 for a mix session...

Why is this Sol Levante thing the gateway to deciding if this computer works or not?

Because it's a moderately challenging, single-system Atmos session with video that we all have access to. It's hard to quantify these things, especially with Atmos rendering involved, so the Sol Levante test is a good reference point. More real-world relevant to pro audio than Geekbench.

Sorry. It was a loaded question.

Its a useless test that keeps being performed over and over again.

The tests I posted above, or John's above and a few other ones people have posted. But playng this Netflix session at a buffer of 32 does nothing for anyone. And I'm not saying you're asking people to perform the test.

Just wanted to chime in… I have been working on my Mac Studio Ultra which I got close to when it was released. Vast improvement over my 2013 12 core trash can. 5.1 work for Hulu, HBO along with a variety of advertising and promo/marketing work. Everything’s been solid, way less hiccups than the Mac Pro which I had frozen on Mojave. For my workflow I am very satisfied, it’s a great machine for Pro Tools.

I'm especially grateful for this report. That's the exact machine I've been using, and the exact machine that will be replacing it.

Those 12 core Trashies are only a tiny weeny bit slower than the 3.46ghx 12 core Cheesies so alot of us are at the same speed replacement area.

Just wanted to add that I had a 5.1 mix that was all done, but the client wanted to add a string pad to one section. I was able to open EW Opus and put something together really quick in the session, synced to picture at 64ms buffer so there wasnt massive lag when playing. Previously I would have just beach balled until PT stopped responding on my old build if I did something like that.
