Need to change DA outputs from one 192 I/O to another
Hello! I’ve been having levels suddenly dropping in my setup. I need to trouble shoot the specific 192 I/O which is setup for audio outs. I own a second 192 I/O also but am not using it for audio outs. What steps are involved in changing out my current hardware/software settings to switch the outs over to the second 192 I/O with least amount of hassle?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Need to change DA outputs from one 192 I/O to another
Open the IO setup page>output tab and change the grid dots. Don't rename anything and the output should show up on the second 192. This assumes both are configured the same under the Hardware setup windows

Re: Need to change DA outputs from one 192 I/O to another
Let me rephrase that:
Once you move the grid dots to select the second 192 outputs, rename the new one to match the old, and rename the old to something different. Pro Tools will "look for" the path name(it doesn't care about the IO grid assignment). I hope this is making sense as its much tougher to describe compared to actually doing the change. An example of how this works comes from my Nashville studio where we had a separate midi suite. The main room was a 64 IO HDN setup and the midi suite was an Mbox 2 Pro. Moving sessions back and forth was always a PITA due to changing IO messages. The solution was to open the IO setup on the midi computer and rename the inputs(there were 4) to match 4 of the inputs on the big rig, and rename the outputs to match the "Main Out" of the big rig. Once that was done, sessions moved between systems with much less fuss.

I would just swap the output cards between boxes. If everything returns to normal, time to find a replacement from fleebay
