Default Re: Scarlett 18i20 and USB 3 on Mac

I'm not using a Scarlette, but have it's older brother the Saffire Pro 40. Originally I ran it using a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter with NO PROBLEMS. Keep that in mind. From what I've read on here people are having luck with the Scarlette on USB 3 and MBP's. Also remember, that Mavericks OSX is NOT qualified yet for Pro Tools. Some people are having success, and others are having a real 'f**k' of a time getting them to play nice. Personally, I'd look into finding an i7 MBP with FW800, Thunderbolt and USB 3 loaded with Mountain Lion OSX (i'm running 10.8.2 with no problem) used (Pre-2013 ie: Non-retina). These models are also upgradable to 16gb of ram and you can swap out the optical drive for a second hard drive. I'm still waiting for my apple care to expire to make that move though.

Good luck.
