Tests using Photoshop as the benchmark test for how fast the PPC 450 or 500 gets work done vis a vis the Athlon or Pentium 1000 Mhz machines, shows that Apple is doing very well against their counterparts. Apple is expected to announce faster PPC chips soon and expectation for a 2000 Mhz PPC chip have been announced. The Velocity Engine doesn't really affect PT unless the software has been configured to take advantage of the Altivec chip.

The idea that Apple is being left by the wayside is an old story that has always been proven wrong.
