OK i'm up and running thanks to this wonderful forum
i decided to stay with
macOS 10.15.5 Catalina and
little away from cutting edge options so i choose:
PT Studio 2021.12 and
Waves V13
For those who may ask i just downloaded and installed in this order:
- ilok_LicenseSupportInstallerMac.zip
-
Pro_Tools_2021.12.0_Mac.dmg
-
First_AIR_Instruments_Bundle_19.12_Mac.dmg
-
XPand_II_19.12_Mac.dmg
- Install_Waves_Central.dmg
Since the os was kinda 'clean install' (even if two years old) all steps went smooth as silk
everything fine, for the moment at least

fortunately Avid condensed many of the AIR instrument in the above installer, just XPand_II has an independent dmg.
P.S. I also downloaded the
AIR_Effects_Bundle_2022.2_Mac.dmg but not installed it yet, do you know what is it ?
