PT 10.3.8/9 scans both the .dpm and .aaxplugin folders when launched for the first time. It will load plug-ins until it has used 3 GB of memory for this purpose. At that point, you should see a message stating that when you click OK, Pro Tools will quit. Upon relaunch, it will pickup plug-in scanning from where it left off.
