I also find the eucon icon takes up space in the Dock, and it's totally unnecessary, as we can access its settings in the menu bar. And I can't see any option to remove it from the dock when I right-click it. Simply dragging it out from the dock doesn't work either, because it's a running application, I guess. It's just annoying. I put a lot of work into tayloring my dock.
