HELP PLEASE?!! Powerbook? MBOX?? ADAT?? SPDIF??
Hey all,
I am having a big dilemma....I plan on purchasing a new Powerbook now that there is little hope of a G5 powerbook coming anytime soon. So i am going to go with a 12 inch refurb...
my current system is a PC running all my virtual synths through V-Stack and Reason with an RME multiface. Adat out, SPdif out, and 8 analog out.
I would like to record to my Powerbook via adat if possible. I currently have an 001 that i used to use with my old g4 400 but i plan on selling it for anything that can do lightpipe over firewire or USB. do i have any options? i really dont wanna spend 1,000 bucks on a m-audio pro-tools package. if i buy and mbox and go over spdif, will there be a big difference in sound? i heard that spdif is much worse and unstable. I can monitor through the outs of the Multiface to my mixer and then when i track just go two tracks at a time to protools over mbox.... but will i take a sound quality hit?....oh yeah the mbox doesnt have midi so that sucks too....any ideas????
